The Tusweca Tiospaye’s 5th Annual Lakota Dakota Nakota Language Summit is taking place later this month.
Created in 2008, the summit aims to unite the Seven Council Fires of the Great Sioux Nation in efforts to preserve the Sioux language. Since its early days, the summit has become an international gathering, uniting groups across the United States and Canada.
While the convention is focusing on the languages of the Great Sioux Nation, all tribes are encouraged to attend this language revitalization summit. The convention will introduce teaching models and technology that can be adapted to any revitalization program. Educators, administrators, and all community members are encouraged to attend.
The Lakota Dakota Nakota Language Summit will take place from November 15th to the 17th in Rapid City, SD.
